In January 1949, Prater Brothers Construction began with an Army Surplus WWII D-7 Dozer, a 4x4 Army Jeep and a 6x6, 5-ton Army truck and lowboy. As the brothers moved on to pursue other interest, Don remained and changed the name to Don Prater Dozer Service. Upon his retirement in 1995, his son, Bruce, purchased the business and incorporated Don Prater Dozers Inc. as it is today. The business is still family owned and operated with Bruce’s son, Keith working alongside him.
We depend largely on repeat business with a client base of about 200 good customers, replacing those lost to death and retirement with just enough new ones to keep us busy. We prefer to work from I-40 south to the Red River so we can be home every night with our families. We have one full time employee, Jon Young, which has been with us for 35 years. Jon possesses the old time work ethic, honesty, integrity, loyalty, knowledge, and wisdom that make him a valuable part of our company. He is probably the best operator in Oklahoma, maybe even the world!
